For the last ten years First Presbyterian and First Christian Reformed Churches have undertaken a joint mission project in the city of Chatham. Over two days a group of volunteers transform the outside of a house for a needy individual. We have built wheelchair ramps and fences, painted, fixed eaves troughs, landscaped, and done general cleanup around a house. This is done free of charge as an outreach of love and compassion to the homeowner.
This year's project will take place Friday and Saturday, August 20-21, 2018 and we continue looking for nominations for this summer's project. To that end, we are looking for a homeowner whose home needs some external repair. You must own your home, live on the premises, and have homeowner insurance. Unfortunately because of liability, we are not able to repair roofs and all work must be done outside the home.
If you have this kind of need because of disability or other circumstances or you know of someone that would benefit from this project, please reply in writing to:

5. whether you are the home owner or are nominating someone else.
We will assess these submissions and notify the chosen project.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Backyard Mission 2017:
Our Backyard Mission 2017 is done and was a big success. Over 40 volunteers worked on site to scrape, paint and fix up the house of Jennifer, this year's recipient of our project. We were honoured and delighted to serve Jennifer by helping with repairs to her house. Our theme this year was "One in heart and mind" based on Acts 4:32
Special thanks to
Jay Jamieson, Barb Sargent, and Mark Pilon for organizing this year's event. Thanks also to Mark
Labadie of Mark Labadie Construction who was our onsite contractor.
Mark has graciously given of his time, talent and tools to this project
since its beginning.
Thank you also to Chatham Home Hardware Building Centre, Ross' Nurserymen, Sticker That, Harvey's, Subway, Original 2 Pizzas, Sarah's Farm Market, Maple City Bakery, Basics Foodstore, Royal Canadian Superstore, Sobeys, and No Frills for partnering with us this year.
Thanks, of course, to all the volunteers who worked so diligently onsite. Thanks as well to the many people who provided lunches and dinner for the volunteers over the two day project. We could not do this project without all of you! This was a super job. Well done!!!
