Presbyterians give annually to our national Presbyterian Sharing fund.  For the last few years we have contributed $20,000 a year to this important ministry within our Presbyterian denomination.

As stated in our national church website;  Presbyterian Sharing is the national church fund that supports the mission and ministries we do together in Canada and around the world.  Presbyterians are sharing in a wide range of ministries from encouraging and equipping congregational renewal and development, to supporting inner city, native, refugee, urban, remote and chaplaincy ministries in Canada, to sending mission personnel to work with international partners.  You can check out this ministry at:  www.presbyterian.ca./sharing/

Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D) is the development and relief agency of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.  We respond to many needs in the world through this agency.  You can check out PWS&D at www.presbyterian.ca/pwsd/

First Church is blessed to have a group of ladies who are part of the Women's Missionary Society.  Members of this group meet for fellowship, study and the coordinating of projects both in our church and around the world.  Over the decades, the WMS across Canada has raised tens of millions of dollars for aid and development projects.  Our group at FPC meets the third Wednesday of the month at 2:00 p.m.  Please call the office for information on this mission group.

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry exists to remind people in our congregation and our community that they are not forgotten when they are experiencing difficulties.  Ladies at FPC prayerfully knit shawls to be given to people in their time of need.  The shawls are delivered by the kind volunteers of our Pastoral Care Team.

Please contact the office if you know of anyone who might appreciate the gift of a prayer shawl.

Outreach for Hunger: We collect food for our local food bank on a regular basis.   As well, the session at FPC gives an annual monetary gift to Outreach for Hunger.  Finally, during our Week of Prayer for Christian Unity we take up a free will offering which is shared between Outreach for Hunger and the Salvation Army.

First Presbyterian Church is a supporting member of NeighbourLink Chatham-Kent. NeighbourLink is a network that equips churches to work together to respond to the needs in our community.  You can learn more about this agency at their website: www.neighbourlinkck.com

Refugee Sponsorship: FPC was delighted to sponsor the Durra family:  Adnan, Rihan and their three sons, ages 3, 6 and 8.  The Durra family spent four years in Lebanon, and are thankful to make their home in Chatham. They are all doing veryu well and have adapted admirably to their life in our community.  Our sponsorship obligations have now been met, and we thank everyone who so kindly and generously donated toward this important ministry.
