Change Course (A Lenten Series): During Lent, you might hear people say they are giving up an activity, particular food or habit. At its root, the practice is a form of self-denial or, as Jesus put it “dying to self.” As you can well imagine, Jesus had in mind something more life-changing than a temporary exercise in self-restraint. This series is a reminder that we are called to a more permanent “course correction” in life as we reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. Jesus calls us into a new way of life – one that leaves the old behind. So, instead of giving up our “guilty pleasures,” why not “change course” entirely, and leave behind the things that keep us from experiencing the life Jesus has promised his followers? Join us as we examine how “dying to self” is a course correction that leads us straight to Jesus.
